For years, my self-acceptance was dictated by the number on the scale. If I had gained even a little weight, it would send me into a spiral of panic. I feared that I was going to keep gaining weight and not be able to stop. So I’d tell myself that I had to restrict my food that day, skip a few meals and not touch sugar or carbs all week. (Sound familiar?)
Usually that approached would end in a night of binging and purging on cookies and froyo. All because I told myself that my weight equaled my worth.
I convinced myself that I could only like myself and feel confident about my body when I hit my desired weight.
I see this pattern play out all the time with my clients, and the downward spiral that can follow when the number on the scale isn’t to their liking. Can you relate?!
It’s important to remember that the number on the scale is just a number. It is a data point, that is all. It doesn’t measure your value, your heart, your impact or your potential. The only meaning it has is the one we attach to it.
I don’t weigh myself anymore. I no longer care what the number on the scale says.
I care about how I feel.
I care about feeling good.
I care about savoring the moments that make life rich and enjoyable.
I refuse to let a number dictate my feeling of wellbeing, and I am inviting you to do the same!
Why give your power away to a scale?
Here is your reminder today: YOU ARE ENOUGH, babe! Just the way you are, no matter what you weigh.
Let your light shine.
